There are more than 460 local Chapters of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) nationwide and in Canada. In 1996, Northwestern motorhome owners did not have the opportunity of a close-by group with which to affiliate and travel. That year, a chapter of the FMCA was organized called the Columbia Basin Cruisers. There were 18 coaches in the charter group. Currently there are 72 active coach families. FMCA was founded to promote motor coaching as a way of life and a fun activity for family recreation. FMCA chapters are the fun groups of the Association and provide members with the opportunity to use their coaches and enjoy the fellowship of friends with a common interest. Chapter gatherings or rallies, as they are called, are generally designed to take advantage of some specific function, attraction, or event that will be enjoyable to the majority of the members and are generally three or four days long. The Columbia Basin Cruisers chapter plans a rally or outing 5 to 8 times a year. Rallies generally are held over the weekend.
The Chapter also participates in the International Rallies of FMCA and Northwest FMCA each year. The Family Motor Coach Association was founded in 1963 to organize social activities, exchange motor coach information, and supply numerous benefits made possible, in part, by collective purchasing. Since its founding, FMCA has issued more than 340,000 membership numbers to owners of family motor coaches. If you are interested in being a part of an FMCA chapter, consider joining the Columbia Basin Cruisers. Contact the webmaster who will forward your request to the appropriate officer of the club.
