RALLY REPORTS
Olde Stone Village, McMinnville, April 15, 2010
Our first rally of the season began Thursday, April 15, at Olde Stone Village in McMinnville, Oregon. Betty Bennett, Rich Barskey, Ron and Cathy Kraus (guests) and Jim and Mary Jacobs hosted with continental breakfasts on Friday and Sunday morning. The Happy Hour on Friday evening was moved into the Club House due to a passing show. After a Friday evening meal of broccoli cheese soup (see recipe) and salads and breads we were able to move outside again to the gazeebo. We enjoyed the Irish ballads of Peter Yeates outdoors!Saturday,Ron Kraus treated us with a breakfast of biscuits, gravy and Jim Jacobs made pancakes and bacon. Later many of us saw the wonderful Air Museum and Space Museum and IMAX next door. We read about the museum's new addition of a 777 which will be a water slide! Other members visited wineries in the area. Others visited friends and family. We had sun and 73 degrees. Happy hour brought us all together again and this time we got to stay outdoors for Happy Hour! Our evening meal was smoked pork loin, smoked beef and all the sides, salads, and desserts anyone could want!
Sunday morning brought another breakfast. CBCers headed off into every direction as some members were returning home after wintering down south. Some members were going to the coast and other campgrounds in the area. Some moved to dealerships. We, more disappointed ones, went back to work! But it was a fun weekend and great to see everyone!--Mary Jacobs
Connell Rally, May 14-17, 2009
Twenty one coaches arrived in Connell for the May rally. Thursday evening was a finger food potluck with the usual wonderful food. Friday after breakfast we journeyed to Mesa and the Coulee Flats Dairy for a tour of this state of the art 3600 head dairy that was completed one year ago. We learned and saw the mechanization of this operation and were totally impressed! Friday night was a barbecue.
Saturday many couples ventured off to Kahlotus to the Lions Club yard sale and some also took in a Connell yard sale. Several toured the Connell Heritage Museum and others checked out the town. Saturday evening was a buffet dinner at a restaurant in Connell, special door prizes, a short business meeting and a special cake for Donna!
Sunday morning after much wondering about breakfast…..the triple “B” breakfast arrived promptly at eight at everyone’s coach. Beautiful weather and a few sunburns made for a great weekend. Parting words were “see you in Ephrata in June”!
Prosser Rally, April 24-26, 2009
The April CBC rally was held in Prosser the weekend of April 24–26th at the Wine Country RV Park. The Park did an excellent job, and we thank them for the many gifts that they provided. Hosted by the Board, we would like to applaud Marlene and Bullet Laughton for their hard work and Marlene’s homemade goodies. Also, thanks to the members who gifted coffee and fresh asparagus.
There were 21 coaches in attendance. Jim and Mary Jacobs invited four couples to be guests and Gene and Alice Harwood popped in. We always look forward to visiting guests and hope they enjoy the relaxed atmosphere for which our club is well known. All were welcomed.
Ellensburg Gathering, March 20-22, 2009
The March gathering held in Ellensburg was the beginning of our fun-filled year. Nine coaches made it out of winter storage in preparation for the next rallies. Ferrell's coach decided at the last minute it didn't want to travel so made Roger and Linda stay home. We had a great time talking, laughing, having one evening potluck and one dinner out. Saturday, we all attended and enjoyed a presentation at the Chimposium, a one hour educational workshop involving world-renowned signing chimpanzees at CWU. Sadly, two of the original five chimps had passed away, since our last visit. Later some of our group went shopping, others stayed at the park and tried to keep out of trouble. We are all looking forward to the April Rally in Prosser and hope all of you will be there to join in the fun. Thank you, Jim and Marlene Slaight for getting us together!
